Twenty Years Later

It spring time which means that it almost prom time and it surely almost time to check attend on that high school reunion invite. Last summer, my middle daughter flew back home to attend her 20th high school reunion. Twenty years is big. Lots has happened to all those classmates. Jeanne brought her husband and two kids along with her. She'd met Dan's high school friends and so he'd return the favor by meeting hers. I was chief babysitter when they left for the Saturday night party.

I say that Jeanne had a terrific reunion weekend. She reconnected with the friends she counted on seeing. She spent even more time with two 'best friends,' which meant that the moms shared a long, involved catch-up visit and all the kids played well together.

However, the truly stunning thing about Jeanne return home for her 20th high school reunion weekend is that she searched for, found and tried on her senior prom formal. Jeanne concocted this formal in her mind and we found an old fashioned dressmaker who realized her 'vision.' Jeanne loved this cherry red dress that looks like a full blown rose, has a ruched bodice and a zipper sewn in by hand. I loved it too and so, of course, it was stashed away for her to find twenty years later.

And did this red bubble of a dress still fit? Could it possibly fit? Jeanne was game to try and she held her breath as, inch by inch, I pulled at the hand-sewn zipper until it closed all the way to the top of the bodice. That zipper didn't buckle or split. It held and Jeanne didn't breathe, much.

Was Jeanne still gorgeous in that petal-like red dress? You bet she was. In twenty intervening years, Jeanne can chalk up one marathon and several triathlons. She bore two children whom she carries and runs after seven days a week. A few years ago she gave up wheat and Diet Cokes. Were any of these reasons that at 38 she could still wear the prom dress she wore at 18? Who knows? Who cares?http://www.yamlodress.nl/strapless-galajurken-robijn-schede-lage-v-hals-hoher-taille-yano0092.html
