Twilight Wedding Photo Shoot

My name is Onida Cruz. I am the quintessential Taurus female! I'm addicted to romance novels I subscribe to Harrequin and receive 4 each month, Manhattan's Garment District, winter Caribbean beach vacations, monthly spa days, and celebrity gossip blogs the YBF and Perez Hilton being my favorites! I love to spend QT with my baby girl and sisters. I wear dresses 90% of the time-- there is something about just putting on one garment and going that just works for me.

I enjoy the luxuries of life (I swoon for Bottega Veneta, Vivenne Tam, and Max Mara). I driven to succeed and never been one to settle for just good enough. I am all about going hard or going home.

Event planning, designing, being a new mommy, I can do it all and not break a sweat. Stress . . . What stress? Nothing a three hour spa appointment can not fix.

This blog is a reflection of all things I love about planning special events. So sit back, sip a glass of sweet tea while scrolling throught the pages of my blog. Happy Planning!

Cheers,

Onida

2010 will be a BIG year for my sister and I. We are stepping out on faith and making moves. We start in February with our Bridal Soiree then in May we will have a series of photo shoots around a wedding/party design concept. Similar to the one here and the one contained in this post, we plan to bring you, Urban Oasis: An Inner City Soiree as part one of the series. Be on the look out for this. Until then enjoy the images taken by Lindsey Tropf of Pure Photography.

I present to you the Twilight Wedding . . .

The Concept

"Due to a slight obsession, Unique Designs wanted to create a Twilight wedding invitation, an idea which blossomed into a full concept design and shoot. The intent was not to replicate Bella Edward wedding, which was actually an Anne of Green Gables dress and was filled with white flowers, but to make another wedding style based on the mood and concept of Twilight. To acknowledge Edward personality, we chose a dramatic look with bold flowers, strong reds, and splashes of black feathers. To incorporate Bella, we wanted to take a vintage twist which can be seen in the creams, vintage brooches, and antique lace." http://www.yamlodress.nl/kap-huls-galajurken-blozend-rose-a-lijn-v-hals-borduurwerk-chiffon-yano0418.html

Twilight 2 woot

I loved this movie! i thought KS did a gd job and i loved Edward. thats y imwiating to read the books afta the movies.

Either way i loved it. cant wait to see how victoria comes bak coz she looked prety mad (not quite mad, but thats the best way i can descibe it) at the end of the movie. well i loved it but i hope the next ones better coz i dnt wna eventually get bored of it being predictable.

I really enjoyed the books, they were a really in-depth look into the forbidden relationship of Edward and Bella. The movie was really good, i thoroughly enjoyed it, but it was quite shallow with the relationship. The books explained them a lot more, and had a bit of humour to it all. I think Kristen Stewart did an amazing job. The Bella character required a lot of her, and she seems to manage with it quite well. Robert on the other hand, well, he was perfect. He wasn't the kind of Edward i imagined, but seeing him in the movie, it sort of changed my view ( not just bcoz he is so hot, lol). My favourite book would be Twilight. Love how the relationship started

I'm the bigest fan of the Twilight books, I've read them all at least 12 times. Its ridiculous actually, they don't ever get boring. Saying that, I thought the movie was HORRIBLE! I'm sorry to all the people who loved it, but I couldn't stand it!

Kristen Stewart's acting was terrible, as was her monotonous voice, which nearly drove me insane! Kristen didn't show any emotion and she didn't blush, which is definately a big part of Bella's character. I also didn't like Rob Pattinson, I felt he didn't portray Edward's gentlemanly charm at all. I actually really hated Rob as Edward, he ruined the movie for me. Also, the meadow scene sucked. He didn't glitter at all, and I didn't feel their connection. Another thing, Vanessa, or any other Disney star, CAN'T be in New Moon! That would be so horrible, even worse than the first movie. The only thing I liked about this movie was the kitchen scene, which was so funny, and of course Taylor Lautner, who is WAY hotter than Rob and a great actor.

okay so i love love love the books more than anything in the world, ive read the series four, five times and they never get old. but still, she looked like my mental image of bella. taylor lautner is a great jacob, but i have a vendetta against jacob. read eclipse to find out why. besides the obvious, alice is my FAVOURITE charater. she's sooo sweet. i also love emmett. he is soooo funny.

anyhooooow, i really like the movie, oh and i dontt like vanessa hudgens -_-, and i cant wait for new moon, eclipse and breaking dawn.

enjoy,I love twilight, the book that is. The film for me wasnt that great especially with Kirsten Stewart playing Bella, but I loved the casting for the other characters. KS just really annoyed me, I actually thought the Bella she portrayed was actually a cow in the film, and apparently she also kept this going outside the film as well, and tried to get part of the script changed because she wouldn't say some of the lines. Therefore fame as so gone to her head. However she does look like my idea of Bella, so all she needs to do is get an attitude adjustment and I might actually like the idea of her even if her acting is mainly monotonal.http://www.yamlodress.nl/a-lijn-galajurken-parelrose-verbazingwekkende-kralen-chiffon-yano0067.html

Twenty Years Later

It spring time which means that it almost prom time and it surely almost time to check attend on that high school reunion invite. Last summer, my middle daughter flew back home to attend her 20th high school reunion. Twenty years is big. Lots has happened to all those classmates. Jeanne brought her husband and two kids along with her. She'd met Dan's high school friends and so he'd return the favor by meeting hers. I was chief babysitter when they left for the Saturday night party.

I say that Jeanne had a terrific reunion weekend. She reconnected with the friends she counted on seeing. She spent even more time with two 'best friends,' which meant that the moms shared a long, involved catch-up visit and all the kids played well together.

However, the truly stunning thing about Jeanne return home for her 20th high school reunion weekend is that she searched for, found and tried on her senior prom formal. Jeanne concocted this formal in her mind and we found an old fashioned dressmaker who realized her 'vision.' Jeanne loved this cherry red dress that looks like a full blown rose, has a ruched bodice and a zipper sewn in by hand. I loved it too and so, of course, it was stashed away for her to find twenty years later.

And did this red bubble of a dress still fit? Could it possibly fit? Jeanne was game to try and she held her breath as, inch by inch, I pulled at the hand-sewn zipper until it closed all the way to the top of the bodice. That zipper didn't buckle or split. It held and Jeanne didn't breathe, much.

Was Jeanne still gorgeous in that petal-like red dress? You bet she was. In twenty intervening years, Jeanne can chalk up one marathon and several triathlons. She bore two children whom she carries and runs after seven days a week. A few years ago she gave up wheat and Diet Cokes. Were any of these reasons that at 38 she could still wear the prom dress she wore at 18? Who knows? Who cares?http://www.yamlodress.nl/strapless-galajurken-robijn-schede-lage-v-hals-hoher-taille-yano0092.html

Twilight for the Kimono

The other problem is nobody knows how to put it on anymore. You can't just slip it on like the black dress.

Really? I know how to put a kimono on. :P

I think that again there's sort of a mixup going on between the everyday kimono and the special occasion kimono (sorry, I'm sure there are words for these distinct types of kimono, but I don't know what they are).

The $25,000 variety of kimono mentioned in the article are major productions. It takes *hours* to get into them, and you need 2-3 helpers to do it. But this is no different than putting on a western-style wedding dress, or some sort of high-end evening gown.

I don't think the kind of kimono you wear around town is anymore difficult, from what I've seen, than most equivalent western style dresses.

I could also add that I know people who can help put on a kimono. Typically though the way that you put on a kimono is basically the same. The major difference occurs in tying the obi. That is not to say that there are kimonos out there that require a special way to put on but typically you won't encounter that. Also the difference between most higher end kimonos are typically in the way they are made and what material is used to make it. During my last trip to Japan I did see some of the more expensive kimonos (I especially liked the owl one) and that was due to the process used to make the kimono. My mom is still wistfully wishing she had the obi they had there. it was only about $1000. ;)

The major difference occurs in tying the obi.

I seem to recall seeing one obi that would be impossible to put on by oneself. Not the knotted ones, which you could theoretically tie in front and rotate, but one wrapped around a box-like thing against the back. I can't find a reference right now, but that one needs at least one, and possibly two helpers.

A friend has an obi mounted up on his apartment wall as a decorcation. Of course you can't put on all formal kimono's by yourself. a wedding kimono does come to mind. Even with expensive formal kimonos, you can put them on by yourself. My mom would be able to. if she didn't have problems with her hands. I wonder if I still have those pictures of obi's from the last formal event I attended. ;) If I can find them, I'll post a link to them. http://www.yamlodress.nl/schede-galajurken-snoep-roze-een-schouder-kralen-chiffon-yano0097.html
